Kelli Jenkins

In the final home game of the 2010-2011 women’s basketball season, the Lady Lions suffered a tough loss at the hands of Southland Conference leader McNeese State, 68-61. Good Morning America host and Lady Lion alumna Robin Roberts returned home to Southeastern on Saturday to celebrate her jersey retirement. Roberts was a member of the Lady Lion basketball team from 1979-1983, during which time she became one of the program’s career leaders in points, rebounds, free throws made, free throw percentage, field goals made, and games played. Roberts is only the second Lady Lion to have her jersey retired, following Queen Brumfield Nard, and one of only four other athletes in Southeastern history.

“I thought the Saints winning it all last year was the highlight. This is truly my sports moment, and to share it with my Southeastern family means everything,” said Roberts. “I continue to be proud to say that I am a Southeastern Louisiana University Lady Lion. It’s an honor to be a part of the Southeastern family.”
