Softball: SLU vs. SFA

Southeastern came out on top in the three-game series against Stephen F. Austin during the weekend of April 22. The series was highlighted by strong hits by the Lady Lions, including a three-run home run by junior Meghan Gomez, and seven strike outs from sophomore pitcher Kenna Terry. With the exception of some pop flies and a couple of slides, my attention stayed mostly on the batter’s box and pitcher’s mound. (more…)

Softball: SLU vs. UAPB

Meghan Gomez & Jill Howard

The Southeastern Lady Lions swept UAPB in Sunday’s doubleheader at North Oak Park. With Southeastern scoring eight runs in both games, and both pitchers performing well in the circle, I found myself moving around the field quite a bit. I shot solely with the 7D and 70-200mm f/2.8 and, following up on Saturday’s contest, tried to focus a good bit of my attention on home plate. (more…)

Softball: SLU vs. Alcorn

In a 5-2 win over Alcorn State, the Lady Lions played a high-spirited game that included pitcher Katie Morse striking out five for her first win of 2011. I stuck close to home plate for this one, as opposed to last game, to test out the 7D’s Auto Select focus mode performance on the slides. (more…)

Softball: SLU vs. Southern

The Lady Lions Softball season opener was this weekend, and in the final game of the Lion Classic Tournament, Southeastern shut out Southern 9-0 in six innings. From a shooting stand point, I find the first game of the season is always an adjustment as far as timing is concerned. The ball movement and the athlete’s reactions to the plays is faster than in the fall sports, and the game moves quicker than with baseball. That being said, it’s one of my favorites to shoot.
